Lublin University of Technology is a state university established in 1953 under supervision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture is one of the six faculties of LUT. Scientific staff of the Faculty has the unique and wide experience in the field of analysis of heritage properties and specialises in protection and conservation of heritage in many different aspects: technical, architectonical and urban. The researchers deal with various typological groups of heritage (vernacular architecture, monumental objects, historical ruins, sacral properties and protection and revitalization of historical towns. The results of research are presented in numerous publications.

The Faculty has ten teaching and research laboratories with high quality equipment to perform a wide spectrum of research on architecture, preservation and protection of monuments, civil engineering, and newly constructed and equipped Eastern Innovative Centre of Architecture with a conference centre and a video conference system.

The Faculty provides academic instruction on 1st and 2nd  higher education level both in field of Civil Engineering and in field of Architecture, as well as postgraduate studies. Moreover, LUT is the only university in Poland offering a unique major in Restoration and Conservation of Monuments and a unique international Master course focused on diagnosis, repair, rehabilitation and improvement of buildings and urban spaces within Erasmus Mundus - European Master of Diagnosis and Repair of Buildings. In addition, the 3rd semester of regular studies at the Faculty is focused on revitalization of historical towns.

Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania)
The participants on behalf of the Vilnius Academy of Arts:

  • UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Cultural Management;
  • Kaunas Faculty Department of Humanities.

UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Cultural Management was established in 1998. It is one of the  most creative and innovative departments of the Vilnius Academy of Arts with aims to enhance capacity-building for cultural policy and cultural management in Lithuania and to promote the establishment of a network of UNESCO Chairs in the Baltic countries, through regional training, research and information and documentation activities focusing mainly on cultural policies and development, cultural research and statistics, cultural economics, legislation concerning culture, and administration and management in arts and culture. The department acts as a platform fostering dialogues between all the relevant actors and institutions concerned with the development and execution of cultural policy and cultural management. The headmaster of the departments is prof. dr. Ieva Kuizinienė.

Kaunas Faculty Department of Humanities was established in 1997. In its educational activities the department aims to foster a broad worldview of art students, based on cross-cultural ethics and tolerance. The department program combines art history and theory, philosophy, arts management, cultural heritage, aesthetics, history of civilizations and other world-wide raising disciplines. The department’s vision considers that a contemporary artist should develop one‘s professional skills and abilities to think reflectively, to raise one’s creative position and verbalize it. Lecturers of the Humanities Department supervise graduate research works, participate in conferences, and contribute to students and faculty exhibitions, discussions and critical evaluation. The headmaster of the department is assoc. prof. dr. Vaida Almonaitytė-Navickienė.
